I follow Derek as well but I didn't take notice. It's a tactic I apply as well.

Honestly consistent output of writing puts a certain stress on our neck, this wasn't my intention when I started to write. Therefore publishing infrequently works better for me too, and perhaps for other writers like Derek amd more.

Some will say it's an excuse, and you'll let your readers or followers down, but another way to look at it is most probably you'll share higher quality.

I didn't thought about triggering the curiosity part... interesting.
