Thanks for sharing.
During the Corona period, I've attended a Jim Kwik speed reading course, I took focussed time to complete the course.
One big thing I noticed was:
"We hugely underestimate the power of our subconscious mind when it comes to reading."
We register more than we think, especially when as you mentioned, questions are asked.
Another thing I try to do, is take sufficient time to consider my next read. Sometimes it can take up to one week until I've decided what book I'll be reading next.
I keep a to read list with interesting books, and then I pick one from that list (if I didn't encountered something more interesting along the way) that resonates with my short term aim or what can help me add value to what's keeping me presently busy.
Also consider, when you bump into problems in your life...
Books can induce calmth and equip you with possible solutions. Sometimes it's not our problems but the fact we don't see how-books can broaden your perspective.
Combine all of this with writing to keep your mind in balance. Along the way you're helping others too.
